  • TOP PRIORITY H.R. 324 (Filner, D-CA), legislation which would grant statutory arrest authority to law enforcement officers employed by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD);
  • TOP PRIORITY H.R. 327 (Filner, D-CA), the "Law Enforcement Officers Equity Act," would provide 6 (c) benefits to approximately 30,000
    Federal law enforcement officers who currently do not have them; 
  • H.R. 365 (Grimm, R-NY), the "National Blue Alert Act," would create a national alert system for law enforcement officers who are missing,
    killed or seriously injured in the line of duty; 
  • H.R. 495 (King, R-NY), the "See Something, Say Something Act," would expand the current immunity from liability to cover all persons who
    report suspicious activity to authorities, not just suspicious activity which occurs on Federal property or transportation systems; 
  • H.R. 815 (Gerlach, R-NY), the "Justice for Public Servants Act," would expand the death penalty by adding the murder or attempted murder of
    a law enforcement officer, Member of Congress or Congressional employee as aggravating factors in death penalty cases;
  • TOP PRIORITY H.R. 1332 (McKeon, R-CA), the "Social Security Fairness Act," would repeal both the "Windfall Elimination Provision" and the
    "Government Pension Offset" in current Social Security law; 
  • S. 113 (Hutchison, R-TX), the "Public Servant Retirement Protection Act," would repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and replace
    it with a more equitable, individualized calculation of Social Security benefits; 
  • S. 207 (Kohl, D-WI), the "COPS Improvement Act," would establish the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) as a distinct
    entity within the U.S. Department of Justice and reauthorize the law enforcement officer hiring program, as well as reauthorizes funds for
    technology grants and community prosecutors; 
  • S. 250 (Leahy, D-VT), the "Justice for all Reauthorization Act," which would strengthen rights for crime victims and reauthorize several
    successful grant programs, including the Debbie Smith DNA Backlog Grant Program and the Kirk Bloodsworth Post-Conviction DNA
    Testing Grant Program, and take key steps to reduce the continuing backlog of untested rape kits, including providing funding, best
    practices, and support for law enforcement to ensure that rape kits make their way from police departments to laboratories; 
  • S. 306 (Webb, D-VA), the "National Criminal Justice Commission Act," would create a National Criminal Justice Commission to study the
    nation's criminal justices systems; 
  • S. 505 (Collins, R-ME), the "See Something, Say Something Act," would expand the current immunity from liability to cover all persons who
    report suspicious activity to authorities, not just suspicious activity which occurs on Federal property or transportation systems; 
  • S. 513 (Feinstein, D-CA), the "Saving Kids from Dangerous Drugs Act," would increase penalties on those who tailor-market illegal drugs to
    entice children to purchase them; 
  • S. 657 (Cardin, D-MD), the "National Blue Alert Act," would create a national alert system for law enforcement officers who are missing, killed
    or seriously injured in the line of duty;
  • Legislation to provide Federal law enforcement officers with a rebuttable presumption that a causal connection exists between their occupation
    and heart, lung, and hypertension disorders;
  • Legislation which would protect the personal information of law enforcement officers and their families from public access;
